Exporting to interactive PDF

A PDF with interactive links and buttons

Interactive PDF is a separate export filetype, for PDFs meant to be used on screen – where clickable links and interactive elements matter, not just print fidelity.

Export to interactive PDF

In the export settings, open Format and choose Interactive PDF as the filetype. This keeps on-screen behaviour alive – most importantly the clickable hyperlinks your merge generates with the hyperlink node.

When to use it

  • Digital catalogs or brochures with clickable product links.
  • Any per-record PDF distributed online rather than printed.

Interactive vs. standard PDF

  • PDF – print-oriented, driven by a print PDF preset.
  • Interactive PDF – screen-oriented, keeps links and interactive features live.

Choose by where the file will be used: a printer wants standard PDF; a reader on a screen benefits from interactive.
