The log: What it tells you

A log panel with info, warning, and error entries

The Log is where DataMergeStudio tells you what happened during a run – especially anything that needs your attention.

What the log is for

Most of a merge just works. The log surfaces the exceptions: a missing image, a value that couldn’t be resolved, something that stopped a record from completing. When a run finishes clean, you’ll barely notice it; when something’s off, it’s the first place to look.

Errors and warnings

The log separates problems that stopped something from notes that are merely worth knowing – that distinction is covered shortly.

Not the same as overset

Text that didn’t fit a frame isn’t a log error – that’s the separate Overset Report. The log is about data and processing problems, not layout fit.
