The AI assistant: Building your merge with help

Using AI to write or translate per record

The AI assistant helps you build your merge. You’ll find it in the workspace, and you can ask it, in plain language, to create, configure, and connect nodes for you.

What it does

Describe the result you want, and the assistant builds the graph: it adds the nodes, sets their options, and wires them together – including the trickier parts like conditional triggers.

A concrete example

Ask it: "Place the first name and make it bold, but only when the first name starts with F." The assistant builds, end to end:

  • a Data node for the First name column, connected to the central node;
  • a node applying the Bold character style, attached to that data node;
  • a dynamic condition acting as the trigger – an output socket "First name with F", backed by a rule (first name begins with "F") – wired into the style node’s trigger input, so bold is applied only for matching records.

That’s a complete, working piece of logic from a single sentence.

Assistant vs. AI node

Keep the two apart:

  • The AI assistant works at design time – it builds and configures the merge.
  • The AI node works at merge time – it generates content for each record.

Still your merge

The assistant accelerates the build, but the merge stays yours: review what it makes, adjust it to your data, and preview a record before a full run.

Next

That’s the AI in DataMergeStudio. Coming up: variants, previewing, and keeping large graphs tidy.
