Exporting to PNG, JPG, or EPS

An image document with PNG, JPG, and EPS badges

Sometimes you don’t want a document at all – you want a file per record in an image or vector format. DataMergeStudio can export your merge as PNG, JPG, or EPS.

Export to PNG, JPG, or EPS

In the export settings, open Format and choose PNG, JPG, or EPS as the filetype. You get one file per record.

The formats

  • PNG – lossless raster, great for web graphics and anything needing transparency.
  • JPG – compressed raster, ideal for photos and small file sizes.
  • EPS – vector-oriented output for print workflows and placement in other documents.

When to use them

  • Web assets or thumbnails – one PNG or JPG per record.
  • Per-record graphics for another system that consumes images, not PDFs.
  • EPS where a vector format is expected downstream.

Quality and size

For the raster formats, settings like resolution and compression decide the trade-off between sharpness and file size. Those options live in Format options, and they match InDesign’s own export settings for each format.
