Exporting to PDF

A document exported with a PDF badge

PDF is the workhorse output: a finished, shareable, print-ready file. For most merges, it’s the format you’ll reach for.

Export to PDF

  1. In the export settings, open Format and choose PDF as the filetype.
  2. Select a PDF preset – it decides the quality, colour handling, and compression (see Using Adobe PDF presets). Picking the right preset matters as much as choosing PDF itself.

Why PDF

  • It’s finished and portable – opens anywhere, looks the same everywhere.
  • It’s what print shops expect, especially with a press-ready preset.

For clickable links and on-screen behaviour, there’s a separate Interactive PDF filetype.

One file or many

How your PDFs are split – one per record, a fixed group each, or everything in one – comes from your merge mode, not the format. PDF simply renders whatever the mode produced.
